Title: Rabid
Author: Bill Wasik and Monica Murphy
Genre: Nonfiction
Book published: 2013 and Read: Winter 2025
Reason for reading: Had a class about diseases, found it super interesting, wanted to learn more about them
I have a lot to say about my expiriences reading this book, and less to say about the content of the book itself. First of all, as I write these reviews, it occurs to me that I find nonfiction harder to review than fiction. This is because when it comes to fiction I can just write about my key takeaways, but when it comes to nonfiction I want to write down every little piece of information I learned- which is annoying and would take forever. Anyways, that's not really a problem for this book because I kinda sorta remember like nothing about it. Rabies can cross the blood/brain barrier, people in olden days were especially scared of it due to the hydrophobia it enduces, bats are major carriers of the disease, umm now I know who Louis Pasteur was and that he's buried in this monument but that's about it.
Even if my memory has failed me, I don't consider this reading a wasted expirience. As I mentioned briefly above, I had a class about diseases which led me to want to learn more about them. This book was available at my college's library and I read it in various spots around campus, which made me feel super cool and also smart. It was the last book I read before leaving for winter break, and it's what got me interested in reading more nonfiction.
