If I'm remembering right I discovered this band in Spring of 2025, after thinking about how some bands are one hit wonders. 'What else do these bands have besides that one wonder?' I asked myself, and on this logic, I decided to give Hop Along, who I only knew from their song "Bruno is Orange" a try. Dearest reader, I am so, so glad I did. I've never heard a voice as raw as Frances Quinlan's, and I've never heard lyrics as consisntently powerful as the ones they write either. Whether it's because its what our performs well in our capitalistic market, or because people in our society just love writing about it, I've noticed that lots of bands sing primarily (romantic) love songs- this is great and lovely and awesome for them and all, but due to this focus, I think there's not as many popular songs about other topics out there. This is why, to me, finding Hop Along was like finding a gold mine (or, more accurately, a diamond mine, ha!). Not only are their songs rarely about romantic love, they're also often about topics I don't think I've ever seen anybody try to put into lyrical form before. This inludes trauma, death, getting old, people who are unloved, and- of course- literally whatever I want them to be about because the lyrics are so open to interpretation a lot of the time. Anyways, this page is dedicated to (low quality photos of) the random art I've made of their songs, and my wishes that they would release merch again so I could get a shirt.

Boycotts have power, and I'd never want to contribute to someone's desire to give up on a boycott. Due to this, I ask that you listen to this band on platforms such as bandcamp, . At this point I don't think it's likely, but I might take this page, and all other mentions of music down off this site in the future, because I do feel fairly icky about sharing it.
